How an apple accidentally became political
Jan. 23, 2026Today I had some apple slices, just a snack, and offered them around.
A coworker stops me:
“Wait… it has the peel.”
Okay, fine, the peel is healthy. Next:
“Is it organic???”
Suddenly, my innocent apple has become a moral minefield. I’m not eating a snack, I’m navigating a tribunal of good intentions.
Later, a banana is offered. I ask:
“Organic?”
“I don’t know.”
Sip. Crunch. Peace restored.
